Another journey for Sarah....

Sarah has been undergoing a chemotherapy treatment since last week.

SARAH BACK HOME !

Dear all,

On January 4, 2010, Sarah came home ..!

She finished her treatment & GOD healed her completely !

She was very excited since she wake up on that day... "I am going home today!"

Thanks to Lord Jesus for this day ! Finally we can finished her treatment & everything is back to normal. After 10 times chemoteraphy, surgery, radiation, H1N1 & all the treatments, for 11 months, 4 days, we came back to our home in Bogor.

There is no place like home...

From her final treatment, CTScan & USG, the result are OK, everything normal.

We believe that Lord Jesus healed her completely. HE is Sarah's healer !

Sarah will do her new life in Bogor, everything will be back to normal after 6 months ahead.

For school, we are planning to do home schooling for her. Hopefully she will enjoy her study before she ready to go to normal school in the next 6 months.

We can see that God 's miracle is really happen to us.

Every single day is a miracle day ! Because God works in His way, that we can not understand, but He did it for us

We believe that God have a special plan for our family, especialy for Sarah. HE will use Sarah to testify to other people that God is her Healer. HE will use her as a bless to others.

We want to thanks to all of you, for supporting us during difficult time last year.

Without your prayer, support & care, we can not make it.

THE FINAL CHEMO IS DONE .... !!!

Dear all,

Praise God !

Sarah just finished her final chemoteraphy, on Dec 4, 2009.

She was completely finish her 10th chemoteraphy since early this year.

We thanks to the Lord Jesus for what He's done for Sarah during this year

Now, we have to wait for her recovery after her last chemo, before we go back to Indonesia.

And at the end of December, she will do CT Scan treatment for last check up.

Please pray for this, so the result is OK

We believe that Sarah has completely healed, because our God is her healer !

BIRTHDAY PARTY !

Dear all,

On November 20, 2009, Sarah celebrated her 5th birthday at Children Cancer Centre, National University Hospital, Singapore. The Children Cancer Foundation (CCF) held a small party for her. They decorated the room with banners, ballons, present & a birthday cake ! Thanks CCF !

She was very happy celebrated her birthday. Even she is far a way from home & family, but she enjoy the party. She can share her happiness with friends.

She also got some present from CCF & some friends in Indonesia. Thank a lot aunties & uncles !

At the same day, Sarah has blood transfered because her haemoglobin was drop. So after the birthday party she has to admit to the ward until evening, until the blood transfered finish.

What a special birthday present from NUH :)

We thanks to our Lord Jesus for His love for our Sarah.

Sarah has chosen to be a blesssed for others, by what happen with her during this years.

We believe that God has a special purpose for her in the future.

Sarah has already finished her 9th chemo last week, where she has to hospitalized for 3 days.

Her condition is very well & no side effect of chemo at all ! Praise God !

We know that God healed her completely!

Now, she has to complete her final chemo at this month, for 3 days chemos.

Hopefully her schedule will be on time.

8th chemo....

Dear all,

Sarah just finished her 8th chemo last week, her condition is OK.

Even the chemo did through her hand not used port cath anymore, so far there is no problem at all. Thanks God !

During the 5 days chemo, the doctors did USG abdomen & chest x-ray, praise God, the result is good..! Everything normal !

Also her wound from port cath removal operation, was completely healed.

We believe that God already healed her ! Hallelujah!

Now, she has to finish another 2 chemos in the next 2 months. Hopefully the chemos will be on schedule. Actually, the chemo schedule is every 3 weeks, but sometimes must be postpone due to her low FBC (full blood count) ; especially her neutrophils.

The 9th chemo schedule on October 23, 2009.

So please pray for her, so she will quickly recover after her 8th chemo and her FBC will be good.

During Sarah treatment in Singapore, we known that a lot of people prayer for her.

Even we didn't know who they are, we believe that God heard the prayer for Sarah.

For Pastor Stevanus Wijaya and friends at New Destiny Fellowship International, for your care & say her name in your prayers, especially at sunday service.

H1N1, Surgery & 7th Chemo ....

Dear all,

On August 28 afternoon, when Sarah went to the doctor for routine check up, suddenly she has a fever & runny nose. The doctor said that maybe she got infection due to the neutrophil is low, so she suggest Sarah to stay a while in out patient room rather than go home, just wait & see whether the fever came back. Then the fever came again, until more than 38.5 deg C, so Sarah must admitted to the ward that evening.

On that day, I came to Singapore with my mom & my nephew, Rey. They haven't seen her since few months ago. Unfortunately, when we landed at Changi, Santi inform us that Sarah must be stay in isolation room. We can't meet her, because the doctor worry if she will infected others. So we can only see her & Santi through the window that evening....

The doctor take the sample from her nose & sent to laboratory, wait for the result after 24 hours. They suspected that Sarah infected by H1N1 virus (swine flu), because the symptoms looks like it. Then the next day, we got the result .... Sarah positive infected by H1N1 virus !!

Oh my God.....

I just pray to God, that He will give Sarah extra strength to fight this virus , even her condition is not good. . We just gave all our worries to Him & we know God Almighty will take care of her.... And also we know Sarah is a fighter, a little brave girl !

No more fever & runny nose after that evening, it means that God answer our prayer...
She has to take tamiflu tablet for her treatment.

For patient that infected H1N1 virus/swine flu, they have to stay in isolation room minimum 5 days, according to their standard treatment.

But Sarah only need 3 days .... She can discharge from hospital & go back to our apartment. Amazing..!! Praise God Almighty..!!

She has to be quarantine at home for 10 days & ready for chemo on the 11th days

We thanks to God , because He never leave us & definitely HE is our healer !!

On September 1, Sarah got her 7th chemoteraphy for 5 days round at hospital.

She recover very well after infected H1N1 virus/swine flu, so she is ready for her chemo.

From last month, Sarah has a problem with her port catheter (where the chemo drug injected enter her body through that port, located in her right chest). So for this time, her chemo did through her hand.

She felt itchy in that area, reddish until black color liquid in side, indicated that maybe infection occurs. Sometimes she felt hurt if we touch it. So the doctor take the liquid sample inside the port. The lab result find that there is some bacteria inside the port, that will infected her if it spread to her body. So the doctor must do an operation to take out the port catheter as soon as possible. On the 4th days of chemo, Sept 4 afternoon, she went to operation theater to take out the port cath. Another surgery for her... we felt very sad because Sarah must did it again..

God help the doctor during the surgery, it takes only 45 minutes & she recovered very well after 1 hours. And at night she started her chemo again...

During this difficult weeks for us, we can see God works very amazing.
He takes care Sarah, He healed her, He is there when Sarah in the operation theater, He also healed her wound. Nothing else we can do, only fully depend & trust in Him .

He has a plan for Sarah future, He will use her as His testimony to others.

And God already did it !

We heard from her auntie, Rinah, in New Zealand, that Sarah has influenced many people.

She became inspired & a bless for others...

She still have another 3 chemos until end of this year. The schedule for her chemo is every 3 weeks, so please pray it will be on schedule. Because it's depend on her FBC (full blood count) result, if OK in 3 weeks, she can go for chemo. But if it's not, we have to postpone for another 1 - 2 weeks.

Hopefully at end of this year, on December 2009, she can go back to Indonesia and meet with you all....

Four Times To Go....

Dear all,

Sarah has already finish her 6th chemo last week & hospitalised for 3 days .

Her condition is OK, no side effect of chemo during & after treatment.

Thanks God !

She need only 4 more chemos to finish her treatment.

The next chemo will be schedule at the 3th week of August, hopefully it will on schedule. She has to go to her chemo every 3 weeks, we hope that at the end of this year , she will come back to Indonesia.

This week she will back to school, she really enjoy it very much.

She has some new friends from Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia & Singapore. She can go to school without her mother, the school bus will pick her up at the morning & at the afternoon she will drop in front our apartment block.

We are glad to see her improvements day by day after she go to school.

5th Chemoteraphy

Dear all,

Yesterday, on July 7, 2009, Sarah started her 5th chemoteraphy & she will be hospitalized for 5 days at National University Hospital. Her condition is OK, she can eat & drink normally, without any negative effect from the chemo.

She has to continue her chemo after surgery & radiation treatment.

Total chemoteraphy are 10 times, every 3 weeks , so she has already half way to finish her treatment until end of this year.

We know that God already healed her completely !

No matter she still do her chemo, she is healed.

God almighty has do His miracles to Sarah

Surgery & Radiation Treatment

Dear all,

The surgery already done on June 2, 2009 at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. It 's very succesfull !!

The doctor estimated the surgery take about 4 hours, but it's only take 3 hours & do not need blood tranfusion. Thanks God, HE work through the doctors & nurses.

The doctor took the tumor on the surface of Sarah's lung, in the upper side of her lung. The tumor size shrinked very significant after 4 times chemo, maybe ten times smaller than her condition in Pebruary 2009. Sarah only need 3 days at hospital, faster than doctor's prediction 6-7 days. A new record for her to discharge from hospital only 3 days, said the doctor !

At apartment on the 4th days after surgery, she can jump, running, climb & play sliding at playground !!! It's amazing for a little girl like her !! Awesome !!

We know that God give her extra strength & a fast recovery , so her condition back to normal very fast. Another miracle God made for her...

Ten days after surgery, the next treatment is radiation. She has to do that treatment until 13 times, every day from monday to friday. We know that Sarah will pass that treatment very well because God with her. Her condition now is OK, after 5 times radiation treatment with very small effect of radiation. Thanks God, You are our healer !!

After radiation , she will continue her chemoteraphy starting early July, she still has 6 cycle of chemo until end of this year.

Thank you very much for your prayer & support during those treatment. Keep praying for Sarah until the treatment finish. God bless you all abundantly !!

Dear all,

Sarah already did her CT Scan on May 19, 2008 at NUH Hospital & the result is very very good !! Even the doctors was surprised...Amazing !!

When we saw the result, there is only a small tumor left in her upper right lung, diameter around 4 x 1 cm . Compared to her CT Scan result on Pebruary, all her right lung is covered with massive tumor. Now , her lung is almost clear !

Praise God !! HE did a miracle to her !!

Her condition is healthy & very active, her weight is also increase every week. Now her condition is back to normal before she was sick.

After we got the CT Scan result, the doctor will plan a surgery to remove the tumor in her right lung. The tumor must be removed as soon as possible, to make her lung clean & chemoteraphy will be continued after surgery & radiation. The surgery will be plan on June 2, 2009 at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. The surgery will take 4 hours & she must hospitalised until 5-6 days.

After the surgery, she will do a radiation treatment. It will start after one week surgery & will take every day treatment until 10-12 days at NUH Hospital

Please keep pray for her...

God will give her extra strength to do all treatments

CT SCAN

Dear all,

Sarah will do CT Scan on May 19, 2009 at National University Hospital. She must be hospitalised on Monday evening to do some treatment before CT Scan on Tuesday morning. After we get the result, on May 22, we will see the paediatric surgeon, Dr. Chui Chan Hon at Surgery Centre for Children, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, for consultation.

Based on CT Scan result, the doctor will decide whether Sarah needs a surgery or not.

We pray & hope that the CT Scan result is good, so she does not need for surgery, because our LORD JESUS already healed her completely !

Please pray for this, let the miracle of God will be done for her !

Dear all,

Last Thursday, May 14, Sarah started go to school at Assisi Hospice & Assisi Children's Centre, Mount Alvernia Hospital.

She was very excited during the whole day at school, after a few months only stay at apartment. She can easily follow all the programmes & also interact with other children from Vietnam,

Singapore & Indonesia. She learn painting, do some exercises, play games etc. She also has to learn to do her lunch by herself together with her friends.

We just want to say thank you very much for all your concern & support for our daughter Sarah.

Your support means a lot for us during this difficult times. We really appreciate it very much.

Sarah just finished her 4th chemo last week.

She ate a lot & her weight is also increase, that a good sign that her condition is OK.

This week she will do trial for school in Singapore. A Children's Cancer Foundation in Singapore (http://www.ccf.org.sg/sg/) have a class for children with cancer, so they can play & learn in that special class. She is very excited when we told her that she will go to school, hopefully she can enjoy it. She can learn & interact with other children, supervise by teachers & also nurses that stand by for all that children.

She will do a CT Scan on May 19, 2009. Base on that, on May 22, 2009, we will see the doctor for consultation whether she need a surgery or not, . We pray & hope that she will not has to go for surgery, because we believe that Lord Jesus has already remove all tumor in her lung.

Hi friends...

It's been a long time since I wrote the last news from Sarah.

Sarah is getting better and better everyday. She eats a lot now. She's been very busy playing with her new music instruments, she now has the real violin (not imaginary one). She is very musical, she enjoys watching the orchestra on TV. She can memorise all the music instruments in the orchestra.

She also can sing in the right tune. God gives Sarah such a wonderful talent.

I just want to say thanks for all of you who continue pray for Sarah and continue support Sarah financially.

I recently being told by Sarah's dad (Doddy Wijaya) that there will be a huge garage sale at the end of this month (May) which will be held in the lobby of his workplace (I let you know the exact venue soon as I got the confirmation from Doddy) . All the money from the garage sale will go to Sarah parents to help them cover the cost of Sarah's medication. As we all know that Sarah still needs some chemo treatment and probably an operation. At the moment, Sarah has just done her 4th chemo and she's doing fine.

So friends, I want encourage you to keep supporting Sarah and her family. I want to thank you to someone who keep donating for sarah through my account. God bless you heaps.

Dear Dad, Mum, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunties, Uncles, cousins and all my friends,

I am going to have my third chemo treatment tomorrow morning. My lovely Mum and my gorgeous Grandma are preparing everything to bring to the hospital tomorrow. Look at my new necklaces and my new hat..."Do I look pretty Mum?" I asked my Mum, and she cuddled me "Yes of course you're always pretty, my little angel", that's my Mum... she's always nice to me.
Please pray for me that I would have enough Neutrophil in my blood so I would be strong enough to undergo the chemotherapy tomorrow.

My mum and dad are a bit nervous at the moment, but I'm sure that Jesus will hep me because He has been helping me since I came here almost 2 months ago. Jesus is always beside me all the time. He never leaves me alone. He sent His angles to accompany me when my Mum and Dad were too tired to look after me.

Jesus has been teaching me to always be happy , be joyful and be thankful no matter what the situation is. But sometimes it's not easy for me when I feel the pain in my lung, but Jesus asked me to be happy and thankful no matter what. I just want to obey Him, because I know that Jesus will heal me completely, I just need to be happy and thankful.

I have asked Jesus to strengthen my Mum and Dad all the time and keep them healthy so that they can look after me. I also asks Jesus to give My Dad an extra strength so that he can work well to pay the cost of my treatments in Singapore. Jesus said to me that He will provide everything I need. That is so true. He has been providing everything I need since the first day I came here.

Sarah went back to apartment yesterday... she is getting better now.....her white blood cells has now increased...

This morning she had toast with Nutela and a glass of milk.... Mum told me, she even asked for
another slice of toast, "I'm still hungry", she said to Mum. It's a miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jesus.

Dad is going back to Indonesia tonight... Please pray for Mum that God will give her strength, peace and patience to her so that she can look after Sarah well.

Thanks for all the prayers for Sarah...
Sarah now is getting better. Her body temperature is back to normal. The good news also that she starts to ask something to eat which she's never done for the last 4 weeks. She's been asking for 'Nasi kuning' to her mum and everybody who comes to visit her in the hospital. It is difficult for Mum to cook 'Nasi kuning' for her as Mum has to stay with her in hospital, hopefully a friend in Singapore can make it for Sarah. She also asked 'Wafer Tango', Dad had tried to find it, however he couldn't get that brand.

Keep praying for her and family.... obviously, God answers all our prayers.....

According to Sarah's Mum, Sarah has just finished her first Chemo not the fifth chemo as I wrote before (she did the 1st chemo treatment in five days). She's been doing fine so far, except one thing, she lost her appetite. she's been eating one or two very small amount of meal in a day. Sarah now stays in my friend's apartment with Mum, her Dad is going back to Indonesia tomorrow.

Sarah will be back to the hospital on the 24 February 2009 to have her second chemo. Her parents has been trying very hard to prepare Sarah for her second chemo by feeding Sarah properly with the purpose of making her body stronger to go through the chemo ,however, Sarah seems very difficult to eat anything even just to drink a quarter glass of milk or water.

Friends, let's join our hands together and pray for this intention, that God will bring back the good appetite to Sarah. Remembering that Sarah has only got one kidney, she needs to drink alot of water to keep her only one kidney works well.

Pray also for Santi that God will grant her peace and patience to look after Sarah.

I also want to say thanks for a very good friend of us, Linda, Carol and Alice.. God has sent you all to help us...thanks for letting Sarah stays in your place... God bless you.

Broccoli Helps Prevent Lung Cancer

A new study published in the Lancet suggests that the natural chemicals in broccoli, cabbage, bok choy, and other cruciferous vegetables may protect against lung cancer. Of 18,000 men studied, those with detectable isothiocyanates, a phytochemical, in their blood had a 36 percent lower chance of developing lung cancer than those with none.

Researchers warned the public not to depend on vegetables as infallible immunity against the strong cancer-causing effects of smoking or to rely on isothiocyanate supplements if they are ever produced. More than 20 different varieties of these compounds work intricately together in the body in ways that can't be duplicated in pill form. In fact, antioxidants taken in doses higher than that which occurs naturally in plant foods can actually increase cancer risk. The lesson, report investigators, is simple: "Just eat your vegetables, and lots of them."

Sarah Fighting Cancer

This blog is dedicated to this 4 year old girl, Sarah. Sarah is our niece. She was diagnosed with cancer in her kidney last year. She has been through a lot of chemotheraphy sessions and lost one of her kidney, but she survived... She is such a fighter.
